Key Areas

There are a few roads, roundabouts and busy stretches that show up regulalry in the Sutton-in-Ashfield routes. Getting familiar with them before your test day will help make everything feel a lot more relaxed:

Coxmoor Road

Almost every route starts and finishes on Coxmoor Road, usually with an early mini roundabout and a couple of key traffic light junctions. It’s a good place to settle in, get your mirrors going and show early observations.

A38 & Sherwood Way South

The A38 appears on multiple routes, often with several sets of traffic lights and slip roads to join or leave. Sherwood Way South runs alongside it and is regularly used to change direction. These stretches are great for showing lane discipline and confident use of slip roads.

Priestsic Road, Lammas Road & the One-Way System

This area brings together mini roundabouts, traffic lights and the Alfreton Road one-way system. Planning ahead and reading signs early will really pay off.

Northern Bridge Road & Station Road

The cluster of mini roundabouts on Northern Bridge Road features often, followed by a turn onto Station Road and back towards the A38. These help the examiner to see how confidently you handle repeated roundabout decisions.

Stoneyford Road & Residential Loops

Several routes dive off Stoneyford Road into quieter residential streets such as Queen Street, Deepdale Gardens and Dales Avenue. These are perfect for showing patience, good clutch control and perfect road positioning as you weave through side roads.
