Test Focus Areas
You’ll come across a mix of roads and a few busy roundabouts that feature in most Chesterfield routes. Getting to know them well will really help you feel more prepared on test day.
Sheffield Road & Lockoford Lane: These roads appear on nearly every route. and you’ll likely start and finish along here. Take care with traffic joining from side roads and parked vehicles near the edges.
A61 Dual Carriageway: This is where you’ll demonstrate confident higher-speed driving. Be alert for changing speed limits and keep your lane discipline tight when approaching junctions and exits.
Hollis Lane & Lordsmill Street Roundabouts: These large, connected roundabouts will test your observation and lane positioning. Make sure you read the signs early, check your mirrors before every move, and stay calm when merging with faster traffic.
Boythorpe Road & Walton Road: A shift to quieter residential areas is where you can showcase your control and awareness. Watch for parked cars, oncoming traffic, and potential meeting situations.
Highfield Lane & Peveril Road Area: This part of town has several small roundabouts close together, making it great for demonstrating your consistency and timing.
