Exit the Test Centre and at the end of the road turn right onto Keptie Road.
Continue along Keptie Road, turning right, then left.
On Arbirlot Road, take the second left.
Follow Monymusk Road to the end and turn left.
Continue along Warslap Road and at the end turn right.
On Viewfield Road, take the roundabout to the left.
At the end of Rosemount Road, turn right.
Travel along Keptie Street and take the third left.
On Catherine Street, turn left at the traffic lights.
Follow Burnside Drive ahead at the first roundabout, then right at the next one.
At the end of Guthrie Port, turn left.
On Barngreen, take the second right.
Follow Leonard Street and turn left.
On Ernest Street, take the second left.
At the end of Carnegie Street, turn left.
At the end of Ernest Street, turn right.
Continue along Hayshead Road and turn left at the end.
On Seaton Road, turn left.
At the end of Country Road, turn left.
Join the A92 towards Arbroath and continue ahead at the roundabout.
At the Montrose Road roundabout, turn right.
On Guthrie Port, take the fourth left.
Return to the Test Centre.

Key Arbroath Roads & Roundabouts

There are roads, roundabouts and neighbourhoods that feature regularly in the Arbroath test routes. Knowing them beforehand will make you drive feel much more predictable. Take some time to practise these:

Keptie Road

Almost every route begins or ends with a run along Keptie Road. It’s a steady introduction to the test, with simple turns and clear road markings that let you settle your nerves early.

Arbirlot Road

This road links the town with quieter residential pockets. Several routes loop onto and off Arbirlot Road, making it a key spot for demonstrating good awareness.

Country Road (towards Kinaldie & East Muirlands)

These sections take you into more open stretches. Speed discipline, scanning for side-road hazards and maintaining a steady position become important here, especially when the road bends.

Montrose Road & A92 Roundabouts

The A92 corridor brings multiple roundabouts in quick succession, which are ideal for showing the examiner your observation skills, correct lane choices and decisive signalling.

Viewfield Road / Burnside Drive Loop

This busy local loop includes several key roundabouts used throughout the routes. You’ll often be taken through here to demonstrate your ability to read multiple junctions in succession.

Time of Day

Be sure to get some driving hours in during busier periods around rush hour. It’s perfect traffic and clutch-control practise for the test.

Session Length

Your test should last around 40 mins, so aim for each practice session to last 40-50 mins and to cover a whole route each time.
