Sat-nav Driving Test

Independent Driving Test
In your driving test, the examiner will select a particular route on the Sat-nav device. You will be requested to use the route chosen by the examiner as well as the instructions from the Sat-nav device. The make and model of the device won’t make a difference, this is because our test routes work with very many devices. You cannot utilise your personal Sat-nav device in the Workington driving examination. For more information, you can find 2021 changes to the driving test here.
Route-led provides clients with a high degree of support and help to use our driving test-routes. You’ll get used to all the different sections of the routes to be travelled during the test. We would suggest using a skilled driving teacher as well. For more information on how you can pass your driving examination please visit Driving Test Practice
If you veer off the independent driving route, it will not have any impact on your test results except if you break a traffic regulation, make a traffic offence or make an additional driving mistake. In the case where you make an incorrect turn, the test examiner will help you to get back to the correct route. In case of obscure or poor road signs, the examiner will direct the learner until they arrive at the next clear traffic sign. The examinee doesn’t need to have a detailed knowledge of the area. You cannot use your personal SatNav device for independent driving, mainly because it gives the learner very detailed instructions. The independent driving part will test if you can effect secure independent decisions.
