Independent Driving Test
In your driving examination, the examiner will choose a preferred route on the sat Nav. You will be expected to follow the route chosen by the examiner in addition to the directions from the SatNav device. The model and make of the device won’t make a difference, mainly due to the fact that Route-led's test-routes are compatible with a number of devices. You cannot use your own Sat-nav device during the driving test. For more information, you can find 2021 changes to the driving test here.
We like to provide customers with a lot of help and support with Route-led's routes. You’ll quickly become skilled at the various routes we provided. However, we definitely recommend having a person who is a professional teacher.
During the independent driving test, the examiner will provide the learner all the relevant directions. If the student gets lost during the journey, they will be required to get confirmation on the instructions from the examiner. Students can’t use personal SatNav devices for independent driving as they give detailed voice instructions. Independent driving will test the ability of the learner to make independent decisions.
Stirling Test Centre Information
The Stirling test centre can be found at Government Buildings, 2 St Ninians Road, Stirling Stirlingshire FK8 2HF. There should be ramp access for wheelchair users but we suggest calling to make sure. There are also usually female, disabled and male toilets for use at the test centre but it's generally best to use these at home in advance! It is sometimes possible to park at the test centre. If this is not possible, it should be fine to park nearby and get there by foot. Practise busy roads, one-way streets, difficult junctions and roundabouts. Using test routes whilst practising to drive is always very useful, as it allows you to learn on routes that you’ll certainly be driving during your test.
