Independent Driving Test

In your driving test, the examiner will select a particular route on the Sat nav device. You will be expected to follow the route chosen by the examiner in addition to the instructions from the sat Nav. The model and make of the device will not make a difference, mainly because Route-led's test routes work with a lot of devices. You cannot utilise your own Satnav device in the driving examination. For more information, you can get up to date changes to the driving test here.

Route-Led provides customers with a large amount of support and help to use our driving test routes. You’ll get used to all the different sections of the roads to be travelled during the examination. We suggest using a skilled driving instructor in addition. For more free information on what you can do to practise for your driving test please visit Driving Test Practice

The Independent driving test does not test your skill in following instructions. In addition, an independent driving test does not check your ability to remember instructions. If you need to query the examiner for the directions, they will give them to you. Veering off route will not affect your examination results at all. Do not worry about obscured traffic signs as the examiner will assist you if you need it. You should note that you cannot bring your personal SatNav with you to take the examination. This is due to the fact that your personal SatNav will be configured to provide detailed directions.
