Key Areas to Focus On
There are a number of key areas around the test centre that appear in multiple route variations. Take a little extra time to practise the following roads and roundabouts as they will likely appear on test day:
Dumbarton Road & A739 Expressway
Busy stretches that feature multiple roundabouts, filter lanes, and faster-moving traffic. You will be expected to show confident lane discipline and correct mirror work during your merges and exits.
Victoria Park Area (Drive North/South, Inchlee St, Airthrey Ave)
These roads appear in almost every test route. They mix tight residential corners with sudden open stretches, making them great for demonstrating speed control and hazard awareness.
Crow Road Corridor
Heavily used during tests around Anniesland, with frequent traffic lights and pedestrian crossings to navigate. Plan clearly, and brake smoothly to make a big impression here.
Danes Drive & Queen Victoria Drive Loop
A staple of the early part of Anniesland routes, featuring roundabouts, Give Way lines and multi-stage turns. Spend some extra time here.
Great Western Road (A82)
A major arterial route with junctions and busy signals. You’ll likely need to handle multiple consecutive traffic lights, positioning yourself correctly for turning each time.

In the course of the independent driving test, the examiner will provide the learner all the necessary instructions.
