Additional Practise
With over 22 test route variations there will be roads, junctions and roundabouts that appear more than others. The following roads appear most, and are well worth spending a little extra time practising:
Brighton Road (A23):
Ideal for demostrating smooth acceleration up to speed, and safe merging from slip roads. This is a busy dual carriageway linking a number of roundabouts.Crawley Avenue (A2220):
A fast, multi-lane road with a series of large roundabouts to navigate. Remeber correct roundabout etiquette - choose the correct lane early, give way to the right, and don't hesitate.Horsham Road & Downland Drive:
Both offer a mix of suburban turns and junctions - a great test of mirror checks, awareness, and smooth clutch control.Gossops Drive & Buckswood Drive:
Residential areas like these are often used for manoeuvres like reversing or parking. Expect to see parked cars, narrow lanes, and to meet traffic entering and leaving.Southgate Avenue & Haslett Avenue:
These larger urban roads, with traffic lights and pedestrian crossings, are ideal for demonstrating your confidence and control to the examiner.

From December 4 2017, the United Kingdom driving test includes following Sat-nav directions. As the top supplier of SatNav test routes in the United Kingdom, we supply a lot of test-routes for tom-Tom and Garmin devices. For customers that wish to buy Satnav devices, we highly suggest the Tom-Tom Start 52, mainly because it is the leading pick for the Crawley driving test examiners.
Route-led has made practising test routes much easier using an iPhone by creating test routes just for iPhones. All you have to do is to either download Route-led's iPhone format file, and then install a supported third party application to access the driving test-routes or load RL’s purpose built iPhone app in the Apple app store following Route-led's detailed guide. The iPhone device can then navigate you to the Crawley test centre, completely around the test route, and then returning to the driving test centre. Practise Crawley Test Routes
The test examiner will ask the student to take instructions from a configured Satnav independently. The Satnav will show the route that the learner needs to track. The make or model of Sat-nav used during the exam won’t really matter mainly because the test-route will be the same. In case the student accidentally tries a different road, the examiner will let them know and give instructions. However, we very much recommend the Tom tom Start 52 mainly as it is the device examiners utilise while conducting driving tests.

Route-Led provides clients with a high degree of support and help to utilise our test-routes. You will get used to all the different sections of the roads to be navigated during the examination. We recommend using a knowledgeable driving teacher in addition. For extra free information on what you can do to practise for your driving test visit Driving Test Practice

The Independent driving test doesn’t check your skill in following instructions. Moreover, an independent driving test doesn’t check your skill in remembering instructions. If you need to ask the examiner for the directions, he/she will confirm them for you. Going off route will not change your examination score in any way. Don’t worry about obscured road signs as the examiner will help you if you require it. Please note that you can’t take your personal Sat-Nav with you to take the examination. This is due to the fact that your own Satnav device will be configured to give step by step directions.
