In your driving examination, the examiner will choose a preferred route on the Satnav device. You’ll be requested to use the route selected by the examiner as well as the instructions from the sat nav device. The make and model of the device will not matter, mainly because Route-LED's test-routes work with many different devices. You can’t use your personal Satnav device during the driving test. For more info, you can find 2021 changes to the driving test here.

Being a client-focused company, we supply our clients with additional support and help for our test routes. Learning with Route-Led's driving test routes enables the users to practice the roads, corners and junctions they will encounter during their driving examinations. To help the student in learning how to drive carefully and also to pass the driving test, we highly suggest using an experienced driving instructor. How it works

Image of SatNav Application used with test-routes

If you veer off the independent driving route, it won’t have any impact on your test results unless you do an additional driving fault, commit a traffic offence or break a traffic regulation. In the case where you make a wrong turn, the test examiner will assist you to return to the correct route. Where you have poor or obscure road signs, the examiner will instruct the examinee until they arrive at the next clear road sign. The learner does not have to have a detailed knowledge of the town. You cannot use your own SatNav device for independent driving, mainly because it gives the student turn by turn instructions. The independent driving section is designed to test if you are able to effect secure independent decisions.
